On any given day, an estimated 2.7 million children in America have at least one parent in prison or jail. Despite recent limited declines, our jail and prison populations are four times larger than in 1980.
113 million adults in America have had an immediate family member incarcerated and, right now, 6.5 million adults have an immediate family member currently incarcerated in jail or prison.
The best way to fight these numbers is by lowering the recidivism rates, and that will only be accomplished through supporting outside organizations, such as ours, continuing to provide education and personal growth to those incarcerated.
